A complete online presence built specifically for physical media shops — from your first listing to your hundredth customer enquiry.
No developer needed. No design experience required. If you can use a phone, you can set up your shop.
Add your shop name, logo, opening hours, location and the genres you specialise in. Takes about five minutes. Your public storefront is live immediately at your own clean URL.
Search Discogs, OMDb or IGDB and autofill item details with one click. Upload photos, set your price, mark staff picks. Each item goes live on your storefront and in The Hub instantly.
Buyers find you through The Hub, your storefront link or The Crate community. Enquiries land in your dashboard. Broadcast new stock directly to your followers. Replies go straight to their inbox.
The Crate is a social community for physical media collectors — free to join, no subscription needed. Active collectors drive organic traffic to every shop on the platform.
MediaMate was built for the real independent shop — where the glass cabinet holds memorabilia, the rack has band tees, and the shelf has horror DVDs next to classic game cartridges.
One price. Every feature. No tiered plans, no seat fees, no transaction cuts.
No credit card required to start · Cancel anytime from your account · No lock-in
MediaMate was built by someone who actually buys records — out of frustration with how hard it is to find specific pressings in New Zealand.
"Finally a platform that gets it. Our regulars love being able to browse our full stock online before they come in. The autofill alone saves me hours every week."
"The follower broadcast tool is a game changer. I sent out a message about new stock on a Friday afternoon and had three enquiries within the hour."
"I've tried other platforms and they were all built for books or general retail. MediaMate actually understands grading, pressings, and what collectors care about."
Not at all. If you can use a smartphone and a web browser, you can set up MediaMate. The shop setup takes about five minutes. Adding inventory with autofill is as easy as typing an artist or film name and clicking a result. No code, no plugins, no technical knowledge required.
After 14 days, you'll be prompted to subscribe for $24.99 NZD/month. If you choose not to subscribe, your public storefront goes offline but your data is kept safe. You can reactivate anytime. No automatic charges — you actively choose to subscribe.
When collectors follow your shop they can indicate their format preferences — vinyl, games, DVDs etc. From your dashboard you write a message, choose whether to send to all followers or filter by format preference, and hit send. Each follower receives a personal email with an unsubscribe link. Their email addresses are never exposed to each other.
MediaMate connects buyers with your shop — buyers can enquire about items, send want list requests, or contact you directly. Payment and pickup or shipping is arranged between you and the buyer. This keeps things simple and lets you handle transactions the way you normally would.
Every item you list appears in The Hub — a single browsable marketplace combining stock from all MediaMate shops. Visitors can filter by format, condition, price and genre across all shops at once. This gives your listings exposure to every person who visits the platform, not just people who already know your shop exists.
Yes — completely free, no credit card, no catch. The Crate is open to any physical media collector who wants to join. A thriving collector community benefits every shop on the platform, so there's no reason to put it behind a paywall.
Yes. MediaMate supports 16 formats including Games, DVD, Blu-ray, VHS, T-Shirts, Magazines, Books, Collectibles, Laserdisc and more. If your shop sells it, MediaMate can list it — with autofill support for films and games too.
MediaMate was built by Kiwi Code NZ, an independent software developer based in Tauranga, New Zealand. It was born out of personal frustration with how hard it is to find specific vinyl pressings and out-of-print media in NZ. Have a question or feedback?
